Report of the fifth protest

Soldier Sister Amirah after having a protest in Martin Place Sydney on Friday 4th July 2008 from 7 till 10 AM, she had a protest on the same day from 11:30 till 1:30 PM in front of the Masjid (Mosque) in Wangee Road Lakemba Sydney delivering an English pamphlet against the terrorist comment broadcasted by Sunrise on Wednesday 4th July 2007. Many Muslims who were passing to go for prayer supported Sister Amirah, some Muslims were excited that Sister Amirah’s protest was in their local suburb Lakemba for the first time, they gave their contact details to Sister Amirah and they liked to meet her again. Brother Khalid from the Mosque went to the Sister and offered to help her for deliver pamphlets. Brother Khalid expressed his support for the Islamic protest of Sister Amirah and he gave some good advice. Some of the advice of Brother Khalid was about the language of the pamphlet. Brother Khalid explained that some people won’t understand English and might misunderstand the content of the pamphlet. We appreciate Brother Khalid’s useful advice and support.

One family gave money as a donation to Sister Amirah but the Sister refused to accept the money, but still they insisted and didn’t take the money back and left. Later Sister Amirah gave the money to Brother Khalid and asked him to donate that money to the Mosque. We note that our protest is not for collecting money. We appreciate the kindness of the wonderful Muslims who tried to express their supports. We believe that people’s support for Soldier Sister Amirah was a support for the policy of “War on Oppression”, not a personal support.

Sister Amirah considered the advice of Brother Khalid and she decided to deliver an Arabic pamphlet for the next protest.

Soldier Sister Amirah had a protest in the same area on Friday 18 July 2008 from 1 till 2 PM delivering Arabic pamphlets against terrorism. Many Muslims, more than the last time, welcomed Sister Amirah and supported her for the Jihad she was doing in her protest. Brother Khalid from the Mosque came to Sister Amirah and for the second time expressed his support for her Islamic movement against oppressors. Those Muslims who understand Arabic better than English, when they read the pamphlets were surprised and some of them couldn’t believe that Sunrise has broadcasted such a terrorist comment, and more importantly they agreed that the Australian government must have condemned Non-Muslim Terrorism. The support of Muslims for War on Oppression during Sister Amirah’s protest went beyond her expectation. Soldier Sister Amirah has requested our website to express her appreciation for all Muslims who supported Jihad against oppressors.

There was only one problem. An individual approached Sister Amirah holding one of the pamphlets and asked the Sister to give the all pamphlets to him but Soldier Amirah refused and asked why?  The following is the conversation between Sister Amirah and the Man:

-          The man: I don’t want you to hand these.

-          Soldier Amirah: Why?

-          The man: There are things on this website that I don’t like. Please move from here.

-          Soldier Amirah: Why? What’s the problem? This is a public area and I can deliver pamphlets in the street.

-          The man: Please move and go away. This is private property.

-          Soldier Amirah: No it’s not private property, I am here in the street and the street is public area. What’s the problem? Last time I was handing out pamphlets in English, there was no problem. Today I am handing out the same pamphlets in Arabic, so what’s the problem? I am greeting people in the street and people are greeting me, anyone who wants one of these pamphlets will get one and anyone who doesn’t want won’t take one. What’s the problem with this?

-          The man: Ok if you are not leaving I’m going to take your photo!

-          Sister Amirah was surprised that why he wanted to take her photo and what he could do with her photo.  At this moment the man was trying to get his camera from his pocket.

-          The man: If you come here again next time, you are not going to be happy! (The man said this threatening comment in a very bad and strong way in order to scare Sister Amirah and make her decide not to come again for a protest. We condemn any form of threats and we believe this is against the law)

-          Sister Amirah: Are you threatening me? You are threatening me not to come here again for a protest. Why are you threatening me? What will you do to me if I come here again?

At this time the man left. Later on Sister Amirah talked to Brother Khalid:

-          Sister Amirah: This man has threatened me, would you please give me his name.

-          Brother Khalid: Oh, this man is very nice man.

-          Sister Amirah: But he has threatened me, please tell me his name. I need to give his name to my solicitor in case next time anything happens to me in the protest.

-          Brother Khalid: No, don’t worry, he is a very nice man. He is a teacher. Ok I’m going to talk to him. (Brother Khalid crossed the road and started talking to this ‘teacher’ who threatened Sister Amirah! Brother Khalid and the man were talking for a couple of minutes and then both came to Sister Amirah.

-          Sister Amirah: May I please have your name?

-          The man: Why do you want my name?

-          Sister Amirah: I need to know your name because you told me that if I come here again next time I won’t be happy, and that scares me that you or some people on your behalf want to do something to me, so if I come here next time, which I will, if anything happens to me you will be the one who is responsible, so I need to give your name to my solicitor.

-          The man: I won’t give you my name.

-          Brother Khalid: He was just trying to protect you.

-          Sister Amirah: No, he threatened me and he didn’t want me to deliver these pamphlets because as he said to me he didn’t like things on our website.

-          The man: Whoever has sent you here, should have come and do this himself. You shouldn’t be here, why don’t they send the brothers?

-          Sister Amirah: Nobody has sent me here, this is my choice, I choose to come here, this is my choice. You have threatened me, so I need to know your name.

-          The man: I won’t tell you my name. (At this time Sister Amirah asked Brother Khalid to give her the name of the man but Brother Khalid refused. Sister Amirah has no complaint from Brother Khalid for not releasing the name of the man who threatened her, maybe Brother Khalid didn’t feel safe as well or it might be some other reasons for his security)

The man left and although Soldier Sister Amirah couldn’t get the name of the one who threatened her but she became more determined to protest in the same place regularly.
